Brand new Morrissey song!

World peace is none of your business
You must not tamper with arrangements
Work hard and sweetly pay your taxes
Never asking what for
Oh oh, you poor little fool

World peace is none of your business
Police will stun you with their stun guns
Or they'll disable you with tasers
That's what Government's for

Oh oh, you poor little fool

World peace is none of your business
So would you, kindly keep your nose out
The rich must profit and get richer
And the poor must stay poor

Oh oh, you poor little fool

Each time you vote, you support the process
Each time you vote, you support the process
Each time you vote, you support the process

Brazil, Bahrain, Egypt, Ukraine
So many people in pain

No more you poor little fools
No more you fool

This is an instrumental prog rock album, but I feel like the over tonality and feel of this album invokes self knowledge in me. It's also great for studying music, reflecting music, and for me most importantly: writing music. It has just the right roller coaster of emotions to go through that it keeps you pumping with adrenaline when need be, but also giving you some time and space to relax before the big and heavy parts.

Skip over to 3:18 if the opening track is too slow of a build up for you. But basically the rest of the album is full of more exciting build ups to big moments.

I don't know if this is pro-liberty per se but I love the lyrics of California Uber Alles by Dead Kennedys.  Although it was written in the late 70s/early 80s, the meaning is just as relevant today.  Insert any politician's name in place of "Jerry Brown".

That's the vid.

Sunglasses at night by Corey Hart

I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can, so I can
Watch you weave
Then breathe your story lines
And I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can, so I can
Keep track of the visions in my eyes

While she's deceiving me
It cuts my security
Has she got control of me
I turn to her and say

Don't switch the blade
On the guy in shades, oh-no
Don't masquerade
With the guy in shades, oh-no
I can't believe it
'Cause you got it made
With the guy in shades, oh-no

And I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can, so I can
Forget my name while you collect your claim
And I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can, so I can
See the light that's right before my eyes

While she's deceiving me
She cuts my security
Has she got control of me
I turn to her and say

Don't switch the blade
On the guy in shades, oh-no
Don't masquerade
With the guy in shades, oh-no
I can't believe it
Don't be afraid
Of the guy in shades, oh-no
It kinda scared you
'Cause you got it made
With the guy in shades, oh-no

Oh, I say I wear my sunglasses at night
I wear my sunglasses at night
I wear my sunglasses at night
I say it to you now
I wear my sunglasses at night
I wear my sunglasses at night
I wear my sunglasses at night
I cry to you
I wear my sunglasses at night
I wear my sunglasses at night

This song at first glance of the lyrics would be about a guy being cheated on by his girlfriend. That's the easy take on the lyrics. The video with lyrics paint a whole different story.

The video shows the song is about a police state and everyone is wearing sunglasses (at night). The glasses represent conformity. This shows the absurd demands the state places on us and that we'll conform to ridiculous expectations under the state's threat of force.  This is reinforced throughout the video as the artist is a prisoner when not wearing glasses, and safe and free when wearing them.

He wears the glasses only to evade the wrath of the state. As the lyrics point out " don't switch the blade on the guy in shades". I particularly like the beginning scene in the phone booth. He begins on the phone reporting the state's tyranny "While she's deceiving me,It cuts my security .Has she got control of me?" all the while it's a government agent listening in the whole time ( NSA esque). In this part he isn't wearing sunglasses but when the police approach he puts them on and yells " don't switch the blade on the guy in shades", again to evade imprisonment.  Then as the police walk off so does he, and he removes the sunglasses he never wanted to wear.

Later the lyrics state " And I wear my sunglasses at night,So I can, so I can,Forget my name, while you collect your claim"  He forgets his name as he is just a number, no longer an individual.  And the claim can represent taxes, as well as his freedom. It continues on " So I can, so I can, See the light that's right before my eyes" , he wears the glasses to be free to see the light of day and not be imprisoned.

The irony here is that if he must do as the state demands he is never truly free and must conform. He does this only when forced to though. The end of the video brings hope as an officer of the state removes her glasses, looks at him, then frees him. In other words, the officer too, recognizes the enslavement and the states very own tyranny, control, and power will ultimately be it's undoing.

Any thoughts or other viewpoints as to this song's meaning are highly welcome.

Acknowledging that you don't know is the first step to attaining real knowledge. To be wise you must first be curious.

The apathy of monkeys keeps humans in cages.

Hatred comes from you, hating yourself. You then project it outwards. Do not hate yourself.

"People are afraid of themselves, of their own reality; their feelings most of all. People talk about how great love is, but that’s bullshit. Love hurts. Feelings are disturbing. People are taught that pain is evil and dangerous. How can they deal with love if they’re afraid to feel? Pain is meant to wake us up. People try to hide their pain. But they’re wrong. Pain is something to carry, like a radio. You feel your strength in the experience of pain. It’s all in how you carry it. That’s what matters. Pain is a feeling. Your feelings are a part of you. Your own reality. If you feel ashamed of them, and hide them, you’re letting society destroy your reality. You should stand up for your right to feel your pain." - Jim Morrison

Hitten by Those Dancing Days

Slow down, please, slow down
I need to find peace anywhere in me
I feel like I'm under water, struggling to get air
I feel like I'm lost in this body, trying to get inside my head

I wanna know what im thinking what I'm feelin
What I want my life to be
I wanna know how I plan to make things easier
For everyone but me

Tell me, please, tell me
What to do know, now that I know myself
Do you really think I could relie on this new person I have become
Do you really think I give a damn now that I can do whatever I want

Now I know What I'm thinking what I'm feeling
What I want my life to be
Now I know how I plan to make things easier
For everyone including me
