#ResistCapatalism was trending on twitter yesterday.  This might be a good truth about or news video.

And since I'm already here, I'd like to again say that I would love for you guys to do a series on starting and running a business.  I'll be starting my 4th business this summer.  While I have learned an incredible amount through my previous failings and studying business since, I think that Stefan's thoughts on the process will be and are invaluable.

I would like to see FDR take on a "truth about Dr. Jake Kevorkian, the Doctor of Death" show.  It would be interesting to see your assessment of:

- The ethical issues of doctor assisted suicide

- Kevorkian's art. It is very morbid.  A google image search while prove that point.

- He spent his last years criticizing the justice system and appears to have libertarian leanings.
- His court case appears to resemble that of Howard Roark or Hank Rearden
- Dr Kevorkian's childhood may have some interesting material as well.  His Mother escaped the Armenian genocide.

I've been noticing a LOT of buzz around Bernie Sanders entering the presidential race particularly from younger voteres. He's a democratic socialist running as an independent that praises Scandinavian socialism. I've looked into a bit, and not found anything even remotely surprising about his views. He spouts lots of popular socialist BS, with either no understanding of the underlying problems or a blatant disregard for facts and evidence. It's probably both. I think Stef's breakdown of this guys talking points could be a good way to get at least some of these sudden and stupendously enthusiastic supporters to at least question this guy's stance a bit more.

I second this as my personal interest.  I'm far more interested in the personal liberty than politics...buuut this might be covered in the listener conversations well enough.

A thread was started with a suggestion and psychologist I find friggen fascinating:  https://board.freedo...-psychotherapy/

I'd love to see Bruce Ecker brought in to discuss Memory Reconsolidation.  But this might not be appealing to the majority of listeners :D

I would love to see a presentation on The Truth About Eminem.

His background of growing up on welfare with an abusive single Mother and how that came out in his lyrics and reported on in all the tabloids.

The way the media painted him as an asshole for resenting his upbringing is very interesting and I think he is a very relevant pop culture icon of our time.

If any of the FDR staff are interested, I would be happy to source some helpful material.

If Stef is unfamiliar with the Eminem story, I think he would find it fascinating.

Would love to see The Truth about Star Wars (and more broadly about the Hero's Journey mythos in general).

Somewhat related, here is a photo of Freddie Mercury riding on Darth Vader's shoulders - https://i.imgur.com/tFXWnVr.jpg .

Stef just did "The Truth About Snowden" and…

We're going to stay tuned to relevant news events for subject ideas, but this thread will be for any and all suggestions for future presentations.

On the chance that Buzz Aldrin dies any time soon...

The Truth About Buzz Aldrin
  • Willingly got a job in 1951, killing people who never attacked America
  • Worked on one of the most complex endeavors in history (landing people on the moon), a project dependent on science, but chose, as his first action when he ladned, to thank God. (took secret communion on the surface of the Moon)
  • Became dependent on alcohol after finishing his career at NASA
  • Got a job working for a private company, and spent his time pimping the spaceflight technology of his employer, trying to raise public support for his company's products, so that the money stolen from the taxpayer could go to him and his employer, instead of some other group of welfare queens
  • Has gone through three marriages
^and that's just from looking at his Wikipedia page!

it would be really good to have a look at how fdr goes from script/notes to pod cast, and problem solving the things that have to be done to make fdr clear and productive, the philosophy of pod casts (why dose fdr not have an e-magazine?)

I was talking to my shrink today and something current came up. The Josh Duggar molestation scandal would be interesting to hear about, from your perspective, as I am sure the media won't be covering the entire breadth of the incident.

I'm new here so let me start by saying: I'm a researcher who has great respect for the scientific method. That said, I recently read this:

http://www.vox.com/2...ience-is-broken

and have personally felt the pressure to produce meaningful research even if the results I'm getting don't allow for significant findings or conclusions. I suggest "The Truth About Science"

I'm curious to here more of Stef's thoughts on Therapy.

What is Therapy?

What did Stef DO in therapy to make it successful for him?

What did the therapist DO to make it successful?

I'm not sure how the team feel about making critical response videos these days. But I wondered whether the recent uploads from popular vegan Youtuber Freelee the Banana Girl (361,000 subscribers) deserved a resposne. Both these videos have been considered as controversial amongst many vegans too and so I thought her audience might benefit from a lesson in consistent ethics and the effects of the state on animal husbandry.

The first video discusses whether non vegans deserve to live, if they were aware of the factory farming practices that many animals are subject too these days.

The second one Freelee discusses why men should all be forceably made to have vesectomies (ouch!) and that all parents should get a license before procreating. Presumably by the state.

The responses so far have been really poor and the best one has come from the vegan community itself (below). So I see some good evidence of a new crop of potential listeners of the show.

The truth about body-worn cameras(BWCs).

A lot of people are looking for a silver bullet solution, but I do not see how this will be anywhere close to the solution people are desiring.

The BWC output is shaky and due to the wide angle lens there is a distortion, plus the close-up nature of the interactions leave the possibility for extreme perspective, to use this footage as evidence there will be a requirement for 3rd party enhancement software.

There are issues with storage costs and the reduction in resolution to drive down costs losing detail in the process and many police departments are not allowing public access to the footage.

It looks like the law writers have taken the effectiveness out of this technology but are still moving forward with this solution in order to satiate the public desire for police accountability by widespread adoption of this technology, formulate new government tender contracts to create a police industrial complex and allow for the continued ability for the police to obscure their actions while only publishing what fits their agenda.

If it could be done I would love for Stef to talk to the Author of Unconditional Parenting, Alfie Kohn.

Unconditional parenting goes beyond just the non-spanking model and talks about unconditional love of our children and rejects the notion that we have to condition our children with rewards and punishments and to hear Stef interview and discuss this would, I believe, be very enlightening to the audience.

He has also done a book entitled 'The Homework Myth' which debunks the idea that homework is beneficial to children, which  I know is a pet hate of Stefs.

The Truth About........Pick Up Artistry DUN DUN DUNnnnn!!! Seriously, with all the talk about it lately on the boards and the recent call-in show, I'd like to see the myths of PUA debunked. Is it really as manipulative as we assume it is, are there valid practices in it that can coincide with philosophy, or is there something in between about it?
