• Re: Obama signs fair pay legislation
It's certainly possible that Ms. Ledbedder was being treated unfairly. What was her "solution" to this "problem"?
To be fair, that gun does look kinda cool. When the state is involved, Han Solo ALWAYS shoots first.

  • Re: Inception

Inception is a very interesting movie. The story is in my opinion full of holes and many of the "rules" of the world completely prevented me from suspending my disbelief. However, it's a really fun movie to watch and even just to think about. I can completely agree with most criticisms of the movie but in a way the movie itself argues

Please review your statements on chemotherapy which spreads the misconception that it's good
I had the same thoughts in regard to this metaphor. The poisoning of chemotherapy is more of a race against time: which will the chemo kill first, the cancer or the patient? [

Slaming babies onto the ground (Horsea 13:16) Your taking this out of context the actual verse is this "Samaria will be held guilty, For she has rebelled against her God. They will fall by the sword, Their little ones will be dashed in pieces, And their pregnant women will be ripped

  • Feddle Gummint Clamps Down on Images from the Gulf

There have been a lot of stories coming out lately about BP security and police harrassing and otherwise inhibiting photographers and journalists from taking images relating to BP, the oil spill, etcetera. Now the federal government is in on the act with some restrictive rules regarding where you can and cannot go in the Gulf. Hope and change, right

  • Re: Man ‘Survives Without Food’ For 70 Years
The last story I read from India involved the marriage between a woman and a snake. It was "real" in the usual sense of had-photos, subject-could-be-interviewed (the bride at least).
Then you should read this . It is cause for optimism. Something like 300 million people watched that event on TV

  • Betting On Infinity

An excellent dissection of Pascal's wager by youtubers TheraminTrees QualiaSoup. Pascal's wager is kind of old hat but this particular refutation is admirable for its succinctness and the slick presentation. And here's a refutation of some criticisms they received for it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXSjzCf1waA
Here's another delightfully unfalsifiable idea (this speculating is fun!): Gay people have more disposable income. They can provide more financial support and time for their extended family. This ensures that the family gene pool goes further.
This is more or less the kin selection hypothesis, and it's
Watching the closing ceremonies now. All these people worshiping their particular farm they are captured to.
If I hear another person lovingly croon "Caanaadaa" anytime in the next six months, I'm going to snap, I swear it.
