• Re: I don't know is this is the right Forum for this....
Killing a human is worse than killing a dolphin which is worse than killing a dog which is worse than killing a mouse which is worse than killing a fly etc.
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her. Does she know why? Perhaps she'll die. Seriously...

  • Morality WITH reference to a deity.

If you were a theist, how would you set about proving that morality comes from god? Are there any good arguments for a god-created morality? I can't think of any.

  • Flirting with Irrationality

I suppose in some ways I am somewhat lucky in my upbringing, in regards to religion that is. Growing up we never went to church, in fact the only time I went to church as a child was one time when i stayed the night at friend's house and the following morning - since they were Lutheran - I went to...
  • Adopting a phrase to substitute "Thank God"

Hello. This is my first post. I'm an atheist. I have recently realized my overuse of the phrase "Thank god", and "God fucking damnit", "oh my God", etc. I want to stop, but it's a part of our culture, a part of our society. No phrase brings us as much relief as does...

  • The non-theistic religions

The stultified paradigm of the theistic religions seems hard to eradicate: it repeated yet again in the recent podcast: FDR1745 Freedomain Radio Sunday Show Sep 12 2010 Ditching drugs, teaching kids about religion, investing in government bonds, and truthers! (some help from Chomsky on that one). To...

  • Against the Gods? Atheism Versus Agnosticism

I'd like to throw my hat into the ring. As a response to this video, I have written this blog post : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GubZuGdsfkw Before I go further, I need to make some clarifications and distinctions in terms of atheism and agnosticism. Atheism is rejecting any belief that any kind...

  • Re: The "Anything is Possible, We Don't Know Everything" argument
I was a little frustrated by the Porcfest debate because it was quite obvious that the other guy (Johnson?) was just playing a language game.
Of all the comments here - I would like to address an apology to you. (and hopefully my comments won't spark...

  • FDR 1691Agnosticism Debate

Hello everyone, I listened to this debate earlier today and started listening to the audio book of Richard Dawkins' "The God Delusion" this afternoon. Very early in the book Dawkins quotes Stephan Weinberg's book "Dreams of a Final Theory". I felt this quote from Weinberg...

  • The "Anything is Possible, We Don't Know Everything" argument

I am an atheist because of logic and rationality, so that's the basis of all my arguments against agnosticism or theism. So how can I possibly argue against the "anything is possible, you don't know" statement? God can exist without matter. Anything is possible, we don't know everything...

  • Re: 1671: Stefan on Agnostic "Silly Nonsense"

Stef's 1673 cast cleared it up nicely, I'm very satisfied now. I'm definitely an atheist.
I think the question becomes, IF they were "created," along with the rest of our universe, would what ever "created" them constitute "god?" Even...
