My prediction: Sam Sedar calls you a moron, makes fun of libertarians, and tells you to go to Somalia.

I'd be interested in listening, although I don't feel like there's much for me to add....

It's funny.. I  haven't watched a single presidential debate, but I did catch all of this debate excluding the first 30 minutes..

EDIT: Skype is installed and functioning.

Frankly Stefan, I'm not sure it's worthwhile for you to debate someone who doesn't understand the most essential basics of economics. I'd say even the Jake Giliberto debate was more rigorous than this one.

I love all who are like heavy drops falling one by one out of the dark cloud that lowers over man: they herald the coming of the lightning, and perish as heralds.

Lo, I am a herald of the lightning, and a heavy drop out of the cloud: the lightning, however, is the Overman!

He genuinely seemed to believe that a treasury was an asset of the state

I'm really happy to say I was wrong. Seder was pretty nice whether or not he was correct about anything. He might have interrupted, but overall the debate went smoothly. Very different from his podcasting style. I'm sure that's because he was decent enough to treat another person well in conversation whether or not he agreed with them.

European governments are examples of successful & prosperous states.

It was at this point my disbelief morphed into distaste.

Yes, it was at this point that I had to say, this guy prefers fantasy to facts. like so many statists of course.

Overall I thought the interaction was pretty courteous despite his distinct lack of knowledge on the topic. I was impressed that he didnt resort to insults or passive aggression, which says a lot for the fella I think. Of course his opposition was all the usual strawmen, but for someone that has seemingly never heard these ideas before I guess that's to be expected. But it was kind of annoying when he would just repeat the same strawman again, assuming his answer to be 'a given'.

What were your thoughts on the debate Stef?. Did you find any value in it at all? How was the audience feedback, since I didnt see the live stream itself. Did it have much impact on them out there. Perhaps to early to say maybe.

Anyway, thought you handled it really well, with some well placed self deprecating, but confident humour which was particularly sharp this time round I thought. Good job!

He kept asking for examples of how a society based on non-aggression could work. I think this is a good model that could be expanded to include security, justice, and just about anything else:

Obviously I'm a fan of our host.  But, I don't think this debate will win over very many people because they won't be able to see through the fog.  Seder ran the show to some degree, even though he was full of hot air and falsehoods.  The propaganda was flowing.  He interupted, steered the debate, rambled on and cornered Stef leaving little time for proper rebuttals.  Plus, then he would tangentially focus on one point, completely dodging the issues such that they were assumed to be true.

Sure, treasuries may be debt notes backed by dollars, but to be fair to Mr. Seder, dollars as federal reserve notes are also debt instruments--backed by treasuries! Clearly he is well versed in the magic of legal tender.

Overall I thought the debate was positive. A very accessible case for voluntary solutions to pollution, fraud, healthcare and so on were made, but I wish the significance of the state's unfunded liabilities could have been made more forcefully. It's not an accounting gimmick purposely figured to ignore future tax revenue, but an illustration of the very debt future taxes must cover. In this case an insurmountable number and so the currency will either have to be debased or the state's current promises defaulted.
