New Voluntarist / Philosophy hub in Germany

For all who are interested in the land of poets and thinkers or in German language:

There are four dedicated individuals in Germany who set up a new website with lots of videos, audio and articles. Among them are translation into German of Stef´s videos "The Matrix", Money that is Sold Abroad is You", "The Story of Your Enslavement", "Amazon Boobs", "The State as Family" and more. The Bomb in the Brain series is one of the next projects.

We have also a growing forum, in which we wish to gather the German speaking voluntaryists.

The site has gotten quite a lot of attention, so we hope to inspire many people to learn more about philosophy.

Maybe I'm a jerk for asking such a pointed question, but why is the FDR branding being scrubbed out of the videos?

I am not aware that we did that, because I am not the guy for the visuals, but I could imagine that we wanted to focus on directing people to the German speaking site. Do you feel that we do not give due credit?

Well, this is just my own personal experience, and you guys are free to do whatever you like, of course (and it goes without saying, that I am in no position to speak for Stef).

But, by hacking out the branding visuals at the beginning of each video, and only offering one short two-second reference to FDR at the end, it makes the videos look like - at least, to me - someone else's (namely your) work.

It's one thing to offer German translations of Stef's work (and even to display them prominently on your site). It's quite another to completely re-brand it all under another logo, and only reference the originator (Stef) as a mere advertiser on your site.

    Does that make sense?

Hey, Greg, as far as I can ascertain, all originals of the translated videos start directly with moving pictures.

Also, I feel that the spread of the ideas is much more important than the speaker. Nevertheless, fwf is advertised as a focus of the German voluntaryist.

But, by hacking out the branding visuals at the beginning of each video,....

We made a german version of money, enslavement and matrix. I have just checked the original ones and can't find any brandings at the beginning of these videos.

In my own artikles on fwf I very often say "inspired by Stefan Molyneux" with a link to fdr. The only link on the first page of fwf is a link to fdr. We show many of Stefans videos on our website.

At the moment we work on a translation of "the bomb in the brain", which is not easy.

So if Stef thinks, that we don't give him enough credits, we would change the things he doesn't like.

    Sorry for my english!

I thought he had the True News intro on that one, but I may be mistaken. Apologies if that's the case.

I'm also certainly glad to see the information getting around. And I'm certainly glad he's inspiring people, such as yourself.

I guess I just feel a little irrationally "protective" about it...

Is the logo a translated version of the FDR logo?

Re: New Voluntarist / Philosophy hub in Germany

I would not say translated. Freiwillig frei means voluntarily free. Finding a logo is never easy, I believe. We tried a lot. Something with wings, etc.

The fdr logo was an inspiration at the end. There are 3 "people" on it and we have three letters. I must admit that I am not completely satisfied with our logo, but it's ok.

Our main goal is to recommend Stefs ideas to the germans, because we have no freedom movement in germany. We share Stefs ideas and think it is necessary to introduce them and FDR to the german audience.

Many germans don't speak English good enough to understand the content of FDR. So we believe it's our job to explain these ideas in our language.

    Sorry for my english!

    Ah right.

I was thinking you could just make a Freedomain Radio germany, where you could begin translating all the podcasts and videos and books and put it on a similar translated site with the same design called "freedomainradio.de" or some translated version of that name.

Yes, it would be great if such a website would exist. We don't just translate but have lots of own stuff. We try to work on german topics and discuss other libertarian thinkers like Hoppe, Murphy, Friedman,...

We don't want to be a german copy of fdr but present the same topics in our own words, inspired by fdr.

We are online since june and reach 100000 visits maybe in two weeks. Our facebook pages are growing and we reach more people every day.

Some of Stefs videos are so great that they should be translated in every language. Bomb in the Brain in german will be eye opening for all young couples who plan to have kids. Thats the group we want to reach.

I have two kids and know exactly how difficult it is to change the own behavior when you were raised in a conservative emotionless household. Maybe we can help the freedom movement in germany.

I understand that, but you only need to protect somebody who is under attack and this is no friendly fire.

Here is our latest baby: Bomb in the Brain, Part 1 in German. It is somewhat adapted to German circumstances, but mostly following Stef´s original.

I am deeply impressed by your efforts, and only wish only that I could read German, so I could read what you have to say on your website.  Also I think your logo is awesome.
