Are there any Chicago area folks who would like to get together for coffee talk after the holidays? Chatting in person with some like minded people would be a wonderful thing!

I'm in the Chicago area. I often go back in forth between home in Chicago and school in Milwaukee. I'll be in Chicago through the end of the month, and the 90 minute road trip from Milwaukee is never a huge issue for me. I know a couple other guys in the Chicago area, but I've never quite met them yet. Let me know when might be good for you!

Yeah, I'd be willing to meet up, am only in town until the 9th, then I head back to school. I'd be down for coffee or something though.

I am up for something between now and the 9th. I'm currently in Lemont IL. I'd be willing to meet somewhere inbetween where we all live, or even somewhere in the city if you guys prefer it.

Sounds like we should be able to pull something together before the 9th. I'll coordinate something with each of you offline. I look forward to meeting all of you!

Post it as a Facebook event too to get more attention if you want.  I will invite others too.  I'm not sure how big you want it.  IT's good to have more than 3 or 4 people at these things to make it feel like more of an event.  I have tried to get groups going in the past and have only gotten 4 people at most, meaning I decided not to do it again until I could figure out how to organize events better.

Also, that location chosen is near several train stops for those not wanting to drive.  Parking isn't the easiest thing around there.  I always have a bit of parking paranoia.  I feel like I can't relax and enjoy myself at a lot of locations with tricky parking situations.  I keep worrying that I might have done something wrong and am going to have my car stolen by a guy in a tow truck.  Anyway, I have figured out that there is street parking almost always available on the bottom level of South Water Streeet.  This is a 3 level street, and I don't think many people venture to the bottom level much.

Is this still happening?  I saw the post on Meetup.com.  Does that mean it is canceled?

It was nice meeting those that were able to make it.  Let's try to do it again and improve next time.  It would be nice if you are interested in this type of thing and did not show up and would say what kept you from going.  Was it the time?  Location?  Not enough notice?  Nervous about meeting people?  Something else?

It was nice meeting you and everyone else as well! I would love to do this again, maybe next month? I think we could have done a better job with the specifics as to who we are, where we'd sit, contact information, etc., just so people know what to expect. Anyhow, like I said, I did enjoy it, as there is so much value in finding like-minded people. Hopefully we can plan it better next time and have a larger turnout. Does a february meetup sound good?
