    Memento

Just the other day I watched one of the greatest movies ever.  The movie Memento is about a man who is trying to find the man that killed his wife while suffering from short term memory loss.  I would love to discuss the theme of the movie and how well it is done, but that would spoil the plot (yes the movie is that good).  All I should say is that it covers one of Nolan's favorite themes of reality vs. idealism.  After watching the film I spent the whole next day trying to talk about it to people while trying not to spoil it.  Check it out, it's something that needs to be seen by every follower in philosophy.

Absolutely one of my favourite films.  Nolan has not made on bad movie yet.

Memento has a gret theme about dealing with reality, and how we convince ourselves of falsehoods that we know are not true.  So true of so many, especially in religion and statism.

I saw the original post a few hours ago and I was curious about the movie. I just finished watching it, and I really like it. Thanks for the great suggestion!

Yeah it's that sort of film.  Definite must see particularly the part where you find out ... just kidding.

    Great movie!

Another one you should check out that is a little obscure (I think he said the budget for the movie was only a few $K) is Primer.   I personally think it is right up there with Momento and Pi in terms of films that can stick with you for days.

Hmm, I'll definitely have to check that out.  Still haven't seen Pi either.

All three of those are awesome! Primer is the hardest to follow though. I will add Waking Life to the list of suggestions. All of these are movies I like to revisit from time to time.

Ah yes, another good one! I forgot about that movie. I need to rent it and watch it again.

And yes, Primer was very difficult to follow. I had to look it up afterwards to figure it all out. They said the writer is a mathmatician, and that he intentionally made it into a puzzle and it took several years for someone to "decode" it correctly. The guy who "solved" it apparently ended up writing a book detailing all of the clues and the resulting conclusion.

Yes, Waking Life, that's another one I need to see.  That's the rotoscope animated one right?  Doesn't that director have another one similar to it as well?

Yeah A Scanner Darkly, based of the novel by Philip K. Dick. I think it is one of Robert Downey Jr.'s best performances. The plot is very disjointed though. I think the intention is to make you feel like you are on drugs while watching it.
