Also, the government is defined as "bunch of dudes who can do whatever they want," so couldn't they just say something like "yeah, we're bankrupt, so what?"

To be honest, I am not a huge fan of this form of argument.

Statists, in my experience, are never willing to agree that the current state of Government X is representative of Statism as a whole. When I have tried this line of argumentation, it immediately devolved into the Statist blaming the Red team or Blue team for the self-destruction of Government X.

That said, I readily admit that Stef has quite a bit more experience than I at debating with Statists, so take my commentary for what it's worth.
