    Freedomainradio mention on radio show

I usually will load a few weeks of other podcasts to listen to all at once. I happened to load a batch of a show call "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know", a radio show out of Dallas/Ft. Worth on KERA, i do believe it is an NPR station. On the second podcast I listened to, recorded 7-24-09, at 3:00 a caller "John" says he's been talking to anarchists, but he wants to know what they would do to settle disputes in absence of a state. At 13:25, "Elliot" says he has a resource for the anarchy question caller, Freedomainradio, run by a man named Stefan Molyneux, and he discusses this very question.

The only bummer about this is the show host tells the caller "Elliot" that they only have a few seconds, and could he give the web address for the site, and he answers I believe it's Freedomainradio.org.

I decided to take a look at it.Stick out tongue It's sqworly.

Would it be possible to buy it (domain name) and redirect? When I needed to make a website recently I bought as many domain versions as I thought would be likely to be mistakenly entered as possible (name + org, com, biz, info). It might be expensive to try to buy FDR names at this point in time, though.

I'll listen to the rest of the broadcasts up to date to see if this gets corrected on air before I email them.

If you type freedomainradio.org into google, this site is the second result.

Paul Ellenbogen has already registered the .org and .net version of freedomainradio. Something tells me that he's not likely to sell.

Anyways, perhaps a email to the host with a correction may get the name on the air again, or you could call him up next week and let him know.

Yeah, and that sqworl page links to LiMi and a bunch of stuff on defooing and Barbara Weed. When I was first visiting FDR this stuff scared me, but I just read through all of it and it became quite ovbious what was what.

Oh jeez... Hmm go figure.  Well, I guess all the NPR listeners can see the so called critical (mis)information first.  I wonder if that was intentional.

That's similar to how I discovered FDR ... I heard a short BBC interview with Barbara Weed where she was complaining about the FDR "deFOOing cult" that had "stolen her son" and two things in that interview stood out to me that caused me to immediately investigate further to put my mind at rest:

    1. She claimed that her husband was not at all abusive, but that he was a "very gentle man" who "errr ... maybe sometimes ... threw a piece of paper across the room". This was an obvious lie that immediately destroyed any sympathy for her with me.
    2. The interviewer seemed (to me) to not have much sympathy for her either! I expected he would be trying a lot harder to sensationalise the claims, which again set up a disconnect that I had to clear.

... so I took a note of the website name and had a look. And, wow!, was I impressed with what I heard from Stefan ... I instantly sent him a supportive email and have been here nearly every day since to help where I can.

In fact, I see these contrarian websites as a kind of "active filter" ... directing intelligent viewers to FDR and syphoning off the morons to waste their time with their vitriol on those sites.Cool

    Hey all on this thread!

I've only been here a short time and there's quite a bit of jargon I don't understand already. Could anyone explain to me what a Limi is and what defooing refers to as my dictionary is not helping me. Can anyone help me out here?

    Kind regards,

    Adela

LiMi (Liberating Minds) is a hate site mostly populated with people who were banned from FDR for abusive/destructive behavior.

'foo" is a shortand acronym used in the medical and psych professions, for "Family of Origin". It's an all-inclusive way of saying "your parents", even if they aren't biological.

Some folks who come from abusive or destructive households, and  who are unable to resolve those issues in their relationship, choose to separate from their families, for the sake of their health and sanity.

    In a word, "de-foo"

Well put....You post is in favor of my theory I had when the media coverage occurred.  I was thinking that the media stuff probably doesn't hurt FDR over-all since out of  the many people who read the articles, there will be a small percentage of them who will see through the nonesense and find treasure at FDR.  As for the others, people who believe media lies without any second thought would probably have no interest in FDR anyhow.  I can't imagine anything else but that the media coverage brought more eyes to FDR.   How many of those eyes were young people who may have sided with Tom, having experienced similar things.  I'm not entirely sure if the marketing adage 'all press is good press' holds here or not but I imagine it must have increased the numbers.
