"Why do you believe in God?" pamphlet

    http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/1462/whydoyoubelieveingod.gif

I don't want to put the image in the body of the forum because the image is massive. It is meant to be folded into a brochure type thing.

Does anyone know of any similar pamphlets done for Anarchism? I think it's pretty cool.

    it happens.

EDIT: I realy wish i could compile a bible passage cheat sheet card to keep for easy lookups, There are so many awful things in the bible that unless i give a christian the exact passage number to look

up they dont believe me that it is even in the bible.

"How could Adam and Eve have been expected to comprehend the implications of their actions if, prior to their indiscretion, they had no concept of wrong, evil, punishment, suffering, pain and death? Even if God had been successful in adequately explaining all of these concepts and the distinction between right and wrong to them beforehand, this means that he would have given them knowledge of good and evil anyway..."

     ... Oooh.

    Self-knowledge. Not self-erasure.

Sounds like a good idea, but I don't think that's gonna help the discourse much...

I find that a great way to go about these things are to bring up these quotes (because most have a very hard time believing that they are in the bible at all, let alone the implications), and ask them to go do research on there own, and If they come back without looking these parts up themselves and figuring it out, then they don't get to debate with me any longer.

EDIT: yarg! I understand that the entire idea of debating with a heavly religous person is sketchy at best . . . but I kinda like it anyway, it keeps me on my toes, and reassures me of my own beliefs.

Re: "Why do you believe in God?" pamphlet

If I find out someone is  religious I usually just send them

    http://www.evilbible.com/

    and

    http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/jim_meritt/bible-contradictions.html

If I get the reaction of "oh wow... I gotta get my bible and look through these" or something, then I think they are worth further conversation. However usually I get "the bible doesn't say that, its translation errors/taken out of context/metaphorical/misinterpreted so it doesn't count". And then I know that further conversation will go nowhere.

    it happens.

I like that comic alot.  Contrasting the two says so much about what they're really up to.

    Six Echo: What's god?
Supervisor: Well, you know when you want something really bad and you close your eyes and wish for it?  God's the guy that ignores you.
