Latest Trend of Student/Teacher Protests Highlights HUGE Problem

    http://www.wbir.com/news/national/story.aspx?storyid=114845&provider=gnews

For those of you who don't know there's been plenty of these nationwide in the US......

I saw this story on the news and it really struck me as highly irrational.  It's like these thousands of students and hundreds of teachers are living in this fairy tale and don't understand what money is!  It's basic math and these kids are supposedly the most educated.

To me this is equivalent to a bum holding up a sign asking for food instead of gathering cans........

The university system is a State subsidised and protected cartel. Some text books cost hundreds of dollars. Where are the trust busters who want to protect consumers from price-gouging monopolies?

The university system has the economies of scale to reduce the cost per pupil down to practically nothing, and especially so with the availability of inexpensive computers, multimedia, and collaboration tools.

The teachers enjoy the benefits of protectionism, and the students are naive, credulous, and idealistic.

I just thought this was so appropriate:

Exactly........ it'd be a little less disturbing if the students were protesting against the wasteful practices of the school that really haven't changed even with the massive improvements of technology.
