    San Francisco: July 1-4

Stef's planning on a speaking engagement over Independence Day weekend in San Francisco!

Anyone from or familiar with San Francisco regarding accommodations and the like?  Also, I don't know where Stef's speaking engagement is being held just yet so I'm sure that will inform where most of us end up.  Smile

    Re: San Francisco: July 1-4

FYI, I emailed the libertopia people asking for more information on ticket costs, hoping that there were tickets available for individual days or events and this is the response I got.

    Hi Marisa,

Thanks for your interest in Libertopia. The Libertopia experience is designed to be three very full days packed with great speakers, information, networking, films, music, art, and parties. If we had the additional administrative costs of providing tickets for individual days or events, we wouldn't be able to do all that for a membership of $125. We only separated out the high cost events (the awards banquet and cruise) so that people on a limited budget could get the greatest value at the lowest price.

In addition, we expect that membership will become more valuable as members join the private forum where discussions can be more candid than on public forums.

Feel free to email or call if you have more questions.

    Best regards,

Not sure if we are going to be able to afford the membership price, but at the very least, we're going to make a trip up to meet with you fine philosopers :)

    Here's the libertopia thread: http://freedomainradio.com/BOARD/forums/t/24471.aspx

It's $125 per person if you register prior to 2/12, $150 after that to a certain point... they have the whole schedule on their site.

I'm a local here in San Francisco, and thats just over by Chinatown actually.  Accomidations are going to be a bit high around that time as its tourist season in the summer.  You can get places thou, but might want to reserve sooner rather than later.

I think I would much rather spend my money and go to a FDR dinner at someplace awesome, than go to the conference..but thats just me ;)  $125 bucks buys a lot of food, drinks and laughs with fellow FDR fans.

This was from the website in case anyone missed it.

    Libertopia Website:

A special rate of $109 per night single/double occupancy, $134 per night for three in a room, and $159 per night for four in a room has been negotiated for Libertopia, and it can be extended for a maximum of three nights before and three nights after the celebration.

$40 per person per night is really reasonable if we've got a few FDR fans coming to the city.

I'm going, provided that I finish my Summer courses first. If any of you have an RV, I would recommend that you stay at one of the parks in the North Bay; It's much cheaper than a SF City hotel.

Stef, what day will you be talking and all that so we can plan a little SF get together of the FDR crew.
