Conference [conference] Freedom Book Club Audio: "For A New Liberty" by Murray Rothbard

UPDATE: This meetup happened in January. Here is the audio!

    ---------------------------------

Some of us are meeting up for a skype chat next weekend to talk about "For a New Liberty" by Murray Rothbard. You are welcome to join us and share your thoughts about this important book, which is the manifesto by the man who invented the term "anarcho-capitalism".

Its available totally free of charge online, in pdf and in mp3 audiobook formats from the Mises Institute. If you use Itunes then this link should take you directly to the audiobook (7 hours). If you would like to join in, you can sign up on the facebook event page or give me your skype handle (you can put it in this thread or email or private message me if you prefer). The skype call will be on Saturday Jan 23rd 4pm Eastern time, 9pm UK time.

Also, if you happen to be in London England on Sunday Jan 24th, come along to the live Freedom Book Club meetup! More info on the Freedom Book Club meetup.com page

Look forward to chatting next week!

    Hey,

Why don't you record the book meeting? I'd love to hear some ideas and discussion on For A New Liberty, it's one of the most amazing books I've ever read. Actually made me an anarchist right there.

You could even do a regular book show podcast. That would rock. Recording from Skype is supposed to be quite easy.

Hopefully I can get in on this. If not, I second the request to record the session. :-)

Hey Tuttle, it seems there is a mistake with the date; this post says the meet up is on the 23rd and the Freedom Book Club calendar says the 24th.

The Road goes ever on and on

Down from the door where it began.

Now far ahead the Road has gone,

And I must follow, if I can,

               Pursuing it with eager feet,

Until it joins some larger way

Where many paths and errands meet.

And whither then? I cannot say.

The meetup is tomorrow, the skype call is today.

Jake, I'd like to help out by running the call from the FDR server, I'll be in the chat... Smile

According to Lew Rockwell, Murray Rothbard received only a modest salary.

He was 68 when he died.

Thanks Alan but I am not sure what these facts are in reference too?

It would be great to hear your thoughts. Hope you can make it to a future meetup!

I would like to suggest "Ayn Rand And the World She Made" by Anne C Heller.

It is available as an audio book on audible.com.

Thanks for the suggestion Stef! It sounds really interesting and is on the list for future meetups. I have heard about a different biography about her called "Goddess of the Market"- have you read that? Would be interesting to know how they compare.
