Conservatives flaming mad about Stefan at the Philly Tea-Party

I am pleased to announce that Stefan is already ruffling feathers in Philadelphia. A few irate emails were forwarded to me, about Stefan's scheduled appearance at the Independence Day Tea-Party. Quite a bit of controversy is brewing.

Many, many more people are thrilled to have Stefan included in the weekend's festivities. (Not to mention convicted felon/anarchist Larken Rose and rabble-rouser Michael Badnarik as well) I know I am. Stef's videos and books have generated a lot of interest in our Ron Paul/Libertarian crowd.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Stef, Larken & Michael in action with a mixed crowd. The broad audience will surely be entertained and informed.

The debate on Sunday will be excellent too.

So, get to Philly if you can!

It really is too sad that these people are not willing to man up and get the help they need to improve their relationships with their children, but rather are wasting their precious time and energy bitching about me to complete strangers...Sad

Life really is far too short for such a tragic and useless avoidance.

If there wasn't a strong reaction, it wouldn't be worth doing. Even the whiners are building the hype and getting media involved.

This may be Philly's best July 4th in 233 years!

    Jim,

I just wanted to thank you for extending this opportunity to Stef, and for braving the crap storm for doing it. I'm always grateful for an opportunity to spend time with friends, and to have a chance to participate in making the world a truly better place to live.

So what is the exact complaint against Stef?

Before the original post was censored, it included 4 emails received from irate citizens that were full of irrational abuse of Stef as, among other things, "a global internet cult leader" and "a looney".

They were such typically irrational attacks from religious nutters and flag hugging nationalists that I couldn't even be bothered reading them properly ... so I don't understand why a site devoted to freedom continually indulges in such censorship of dissenting opinions?

I do not allow verbal abuse on this site. It is not censorship. It is integrity. Deal.

To conflate verbal abuse with dissenting opinions is very low sophistry. :(

While on one hand none of this is really shocking or surprising it is quite enraging to hear all these unjust, slanderous comments and projections from the likely religious nutters, statist believers and the abusive parents of those who got away.

Re: Conservatives flaming mad about Stefan at the Philly Tea-Party

In the interest of brevity and positivity, I chose to edit the post to omit the actual emails. Nothing was censored. The "complaints" in the emails were just regurgitations of previous accusations of anti-family, troop-hating, cultish, godless anarchism, etc. These have already been thoroughly debunked, so I omitted them.

Most of the local response is very positive. A little controversy is a great way to generate interest and media attention. So everything seems to be working out.

Despite Stef's criticism of Ron Paul's candidacy, there is a large amount of support from this movement. Even most of those that may disagree, have respect and curiosity.

What makes this event important to me, is that it is an opportunity to reach beyond the "choir". Some of the crowd will be similar to the NH Liberty Forum folks, but it will also be a more general audience. Everybody will have an opportunity to advance their understanding of freedom.

One of the event organizers reminded me that Thomas Jefferson was once considered "too radical" for daring to bath in water.

    Everybody, get to Philly!

I think the philly tea party will be the perfect opportunity to "knocked" minarchism, nationalism, statism (and so on) out. The libertarian movement and anarchism must be recognized as synonyms.

So good luck Stef! The anarchist cause will be gratefull
