It seems like he's saying that emotions and feelings are your enemies in the pursuit of the truth and in the judgment of others.  The imprecision of his argument, however, seems to illustrate that he's being propelled by his emotions in his objection to you.

You have some really good points and Stefan may have some good points, but it seems to me that he uses more than just the facts to get his point across. In the past I found myself listening to what other people had to say and the way they presented themselves made me believe that they had my best interests in mind. I couldn't think of any reason why they would want to lie to me or use me for their own personal gain, but as I got wiser and started to question the world more, I found that people like Stefan have other things in mind or their own biases they can't let go of regardless of the truth. I find that if someone has a legitimate point they want to make, they don't use fear and emotions to try to influence people. I could tell this guy was shady during the first minute of the video. I wish I could give you a better reason not to trust this guy, I have just seen people like him before and what they say usually has something attached to it. I know it seems like it's easy to read people, but some people have a way of captivating others and unfortunately they don't always give you an unbiased view. I feel like I am lucky that I had an amazing teacher who taught me to question the world and opened my eyes to so many things. I only wish I still had the readings he assigned including readings by Aristotle, Socrates, Thoreau (Civil Disobedience), and many other life changing readings. I do respect the fact that other people have their own opinions, but I just don't like to see people try to use questionable tactics to get people to believe them. I am in no way trying to get you to think the same way I do, on the contrary, I think it's extremely important for people to express what they think without fear of being ridiculed by others. Let me know if what I said makes sense, I am freakin' exhausted right now and my thoughts don't come out quite the way they sound like in my head. You on the other hand are great at getting your point across, I wish I could express my thoughts that well.

Everything in yellow is projection on his part. Everything in pink is a false judgment or ill-defined assertion. Everything in orange, is hypocrisy.

What were your emotions when you read this letter?

I would say the first orange is less hypocrisy and more just outright dishonesty. The latter orange is definitely hypocrisy.

    freedomfighter:

Please help me analyze what my brother is saying unconsciously. Your input would be greatly appreciated. :)

I was thinking that maybe he was talking more about himself than he was of you. People often project their own feelings.

That is why I went through the text and tried to figure out why he said what he did.

I don’t know your brother, so this is all just guesses and they may all be way off and nonsensical. It’s just my personal speculation.

    freedomfighter’s brother:

You have some really good points and Stefan may have some good points, but it seems to me that he uses more than just the facts to get his point across.

Translation: I don’t like Stefan’s point, but I can’t refute them. Instead I will attack Stefan as a person to make you doubt him.

    freedomfighter’s brother:

In the past I found myself listening to what other people had to say and the way they presented themselves made me believe that they had my best interests in mind. I couldn't think of any reason why they would want to lie to me or use me for their own personal gain, but as I got wiser and started to question the world more, I found that people like Stefan have other things in mind or their own biases they can't let go of regardless of the truth.

Translation: I was hurt in the past, I don’t understand why people lie to me, but now I’m used to it and doubt (reject) everyone who make me feel uncomfortable.

    freedomfighter’s brother:

I find that if someone has a legitimate point they want to make, they don't use fear and emotions to try to influence people.

Translation: I feel fear and emotions when I listen to Stefan. I think he is abusive.

    freedomfighter’s brother:

I could tell this guy was shady during the first minute of the video.

    Translation: I’m uncomfortable with emotions.

    freedomfighter’s brother:

I wish I could give you a better reason not to trust this guy, I have just seen people like him before and what they say usually has something attached to it.

Translation: I know I’m not giving you convincing arguments and I put everyone who uses strong emotions in the same category.

    freedomfighter’s brother:

I know it seems like it's easy to read people, but some people have a way of captivating others and unfortunately they don't always give you an unbiased view.

Translation: I have been manipulated in the past and don’t trust my feelings.

    freedomfighter’s brother:

I feel like I am lucky that I had an amazing teacher who taught me to question the world and opened my eyes to so many things.

Translation: I could be feeling much worse, but my teacher gave me a way of thinking that made me not feel (notice) the pain, which was a great relief for me.

    freedomfighter’s brother:

I only wish I still had the readings he assigned including readings by Aristotle, Socrates, Thoreau (Civil Disobedience), and many other life changing readings.

Translation: I don’t understand my own reasoning.

    freedomfighter’s brother:

I do respect the fact that other people have their own opinions, but I just don't like to see people try to use questionable tactics to get people to believe them.

Translation: I don’t respect opinions which make me feel uncomfortable.

    freedomfighter’s brother:

I am in no way trying to get you to think the same way I do, on the contrary, I think it's extremely important for people to express what they think without fear of being ridiculed by others.

Translation: I’m afraid you will think I’m ridiculing you, because In the past I was ridiculed for thinking differently.

    What do you think?

Beware of the words "It seems like..." or "It seems as if..."  For instance...

It seems like you just want to hurt your brother freedomfighter, it seems like you hate all families.

This is just my opinion, but I think the last thing he said, was less a fear of what people will think of him for speaking his mind, and moreso him demanding a license for everything he'd said above it.

What were your emotions when you read this letter?

Were you bitten by a radioactive psychologist, or something like that?

what kind of response to my brother's email will not provoke him to give another BS response but a truthful one?
Are you sure your brother was OK with you giving out his first and last name, birthdate, and school to people he doesn't know ?

I experienced a fair degree of irritation after reading this post, so I was wondering if I'm completely in error with what's going on for you when you wrote this. Is this lighthearted? If it is I don't get the joke and would appreciate an explanation (sorry to be so dense but I do want to learn).
