I don't know where philosophers meet these "nihilists."  I've never met any.  In fact, most people in my experience really butcher interpretation of Nietzsche because they are afraid of him!

I think it's more the case that people have false moral systems and it's much easier to justify lies when the criteria are not clear how they came to such results.

What do you think of those that diagnose others as nihilist without them knowing it?  Is that fair?  Because I find that to be much more the case (as with the controversy over post-modernists).  It's sort of like fascism and socialism.  It's a no-no word, but it might be true.  And the real socialists and fascists are always like "you just don't understand this, man!"

Oh, if you search the boards, there are plenty of posts from self-proclaimed nihilists.

People who teach their kids conclusions are harming their kids ability to understand reality, and are thus abusers. Those who teach methods are not. This is a difference in kind. People who teach their kids the conclusion that Santa Claus exists are not inflicting a lifetime full of guilt or fear. Those who teach that Jesus Christ exists are. The latter are far more egregious. This is a difference in degree.

I admitted to minor nihilistic tendencies, although they may just be the consequences to personality from all the bad things that happen to us in life. I'm watching the video now.

Re: Nihilism: The Live Action Video!

I took the "nihilist test" from your quoted definition of nihilism...

"A) A viewpoint that traditional values and beliefs are unfounded ..." [I certainly do think that many traditional values and beliefs are unfounded.]

" ... and that existence is senseless and useless." [I think that helping to build a violent state is senseless and useless, but not life itself. I enjoy lots of things in life.]

"B) A doctrine that denies any objective ground of truth and especially of moral truths. [Well this one doesn't fit with me at all. I believe mysticism can in no way at all be compared to objectivity on a scale of usefulness. And I also think that moral truth does exist, and that Stef's right about nearly everything he has podcasted relating to moral truth.]

So I may fit about 60% into the definition of A) but I don't fit at all into the definition of B).

Re: Nihilism: The Live Action Video!

I believe the core of modern nihilism is actually a *hatred* or a resentment of the truth, that arises out of the way our natural born love of the truth is used to bully, abuse, and corrupt us, by those in positions of power over us. This includes, and is first experienced from, parents.

That hatred of the truth, as an emotional or psychological corruption, I think, is much more important to focus on, than the logical or intellectual corruption. Fix the first, and you'll fix the second by default.
